A-Plus criticizes NPP communicators for post-election admissions

MP-elect for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has taken to social media to call out members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he describes as a sudden realization of the issues that contributed to their electoral defeat.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), A-Plus expressed dismay over recent comments from NPP communicators, highlighting their newfound acknowledgment of problems within their administration—issues that critics, including himself, had previously pointed out but were dismissed or insulted for raising.

“Suddenly, NPP communicators and supporters seem to have realized all the issues that led them into opposition. Ironically, they’re claiming that the very problems they insulted us for pointing out in the past are what caused their downfall,” A-Plus wrote.

A-Plus also noted a striking comment he recently heard from an NPP communicator on a radio program.

According to him, the communicator pledged to assist the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government in uncovering instances of corruption and theft allegedly perpetrated by NPP officials.

“Just today, I heard an NPP communicator on the radio saying he would guide the NDC government to uncover NPP officials who have stolen from the country,” A-Plus revealed.

He questioned the integrity of such claims, criticizing the silence of NPP members during their eight years in power despite being aware of alleged wrongdoings within their ranks.

“So, for eight years, you knew this, yet you remained silent and even attacked those who exposed it?” he asked rhetorically.

A-Plus’s comments have struck a chord with many Ghanaians, reigniting conversations about accountability, hypocrisy, and the role of political communicators in shaping public discourse. Critics argue that the NPP’s sudden willingness to admit to issues previously dismissed as propaganda raises questions about their sincerity and commitment to the nation’s progress.

The activist’s post has also intensified debates about how political parties handle internal corruption and the responsibility of communicators to prioritize truth over partisanship.

As the NDC prepares to assume office following their victory in the 2024 elections, A-Plus’s critique highlights the need for greater transparency and accountability across Ghana’s political landscape. The revelations of post-election admissions by NPP communicators underscore the importance of consistent and honest advocacy for good governance, irrespective of political affiliation.

With many citizens watching closely, the expectation is that both the outgoing and incoming administrations will be held to the highest standards of accountability to ensure a better future for Ghana.
