Those inciting violence in December 7 elections won’t be alive to end it- Mustapha Gbande threatens NPP

Mustapha Gbande, the National Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a stark warning to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who are inciting violence ahead of the December 7 general elections.

This comes in response to remarks by Hon. Bryan Achaempong, who boldly declared that the NPP would retain power “by hook or crook,” vowing never to hand over to the NDC.

Speaking on Radio Gold, Gbande did not mince words, stating that any NPP members engaging in illegal activities during the elections “will not be alive to see the end.”

“We will not sit for Akufo Addo to do even 10 percent of what he did in the 2020 elections,” Gbande warned, referencing alleged irregularities in the previous election cycle. He emphasised that winning elections in Ghana is governed by law, and any attempts to undermine the legality of the process would be met with strong resistance.

Gbande highlighted the widespread call for the NDC’s return to power and vowed to ensure that this call is realized. He also called on supporters within the police, military, and other services to stand with the NDC against any unlawful actions by the NPP.

“We will declare that every member or sympathiser of the police, military, or any of the services should arise and stand with us,” he declared, adding, “Ghana will not die, and we will not allow a few people within the NPP government to destroy the country.”

As election day approaches, Gbande’s comments underline the increasing tensions between the NDC and NPP, highlighting the urgent need for peaceful and fair electoral processes.
