Seasoned Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has spoken out against the prevalent culture of lateness in African societies, commonly referred to as “African time.” She highlighted that being late is not only unprofessional but also disrespectful to others, urging a shift in mindset regarding punctuality.
In a post on X, Henshaw expressed her strong disapproval of tardiness and the justifications often made for it in African cultures. She wrote, “There is nothing like ‘African time.’ You are disrespectful and rude! When it comes to money matters, you’re always early or at embassy appointments! Miss me with that attitude. I detest tardiness.”
Kate Henshaw is a celebrated Nigerian actress recognized for her outstanding performances. In 2008, she received the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her role in Stronger Than Pain. Over the years, she has starred in numerous films, including Faces (1996), Above Death: In God We Trust (2003), A Million Tears (2006), My Little Secret (2006), Stronger Than Pain (2007), and A Few Good Men (2014).
In 2011, Henshaw was honored by the Nigerian federal government, receiving the title of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic for her contributions to the film industry.
