Cheddar to contest as an Independent Presidential candidate after delays in securing approval from EC

The New Force Movement’s leader, Nana Kwame Bediako, also referred to as “Cheddar,” has declared that he will run as an independent in the December 2024 presidential election.

He said that he was had to make this choice because it was taking longer than expected for him to get the necessary approval for his application to register his movement as a political party.

Despite receiving a provisional certificate from the Electoral Commission (EC), he feels that his party will not be able to run in the 2024 elections due to the subsequent procedures set down by the EC.

Nana Kwame Bediako detailed the challenges he had during the registration procedure, stating that his team had to send multiple letters to the EC to find out how his application was progressing.

According to Nana Kwame Bediako, who gave a news conference on Friday, July 12, 2024, it took the New Force team roughly eight months from the time of application to the EC’s response.

Nana Kwame Bediako said he won’t be deterred and will run as an independent in December 2024 despite the delays.

He says he knows there will be attempts, as experienced previously in other elections in Ghana, not to allow him to be on the ballot.

Nana Kwame Bediako said he will fight to the end and ensure he appears on the ballot.

However, he has urged Ghanaians to unite behind him in order to alter Ghana’s destiny. Mr. Bediako claims he can only effect the long-overdue change that most Ghanaians have been longing for.
