Four PDS Officials Questioned Over Missing GH¢850m ECG Funds – AG

The spokesperson for the Office of the Attorney-General, Benjamin Alpha, has disclosed that four individuals linked to Power Distribution Services (PDS) are under investigation over the disappearance of about GH¢850 million belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The development follows an earlier announcement by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who confirmed on Monday, May 4, 2026, that four PDS-affiliated persons had been arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations in connection with the suspected transfer of ECG funds.

Speaking on Eyewitness News the same day, Mr Alpha explained that the case stems from a transitional arrangement in which both assets and liabilities were expected to be reconciled between the parties before arbitration proceedings were concluded.

He noted that although ECG won the arbitration case, funds that were expected to remain in its account were later found to have been depleted, with the four individuals now suspected of playing a role in their disappearance.

Mr Alpha stressed that investigations are still at a preliminary stage and no formal charges have been filed.

“Their charges cannot be discussed at this point because this is a very preliminary stage,” he said.

“The investigation officers want to understand the full circumstances under which these monies left this account… They have been invited, questioned, and granted bail pending further investigation.”

He added that the amount under investigation stands at GH¢850 million, with further updates expected as the probe progresses.
