A suspected armed robber has been shot dead during an operation by the Police Intelligence Directorate at Ejura in the Ashanti region.
The operation, conducted on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on a robbery gang believed to be behind a series of attacks on residents and commuters in the area.
In a Facebook post on Friday, March 20, the Ghana Police Service confirmed the development, identifying the deceased suspect as Amadu, also known as “Manu”. He sustained gunshot wounds during the operation and was later pronounced dead.

Police said the suspect has been linked to a robbery attack on March 14 along the Atebubu–Ejura highway, where armed men reportedly fired into a moving vehicle, leaving a passenger injured.
Items retrieved from the suspect include a single-barrelled gun, five live cartridges, a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone, and a cash sum of GH¢200.
The police added that efforts have been intensified to track down and arrest other members of the gang as part of measures to restore safety and security in the area.
