The Diaspora Patriots in Ghana (DPG) have congratulated Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia on his decisive election as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of his vision, leadership and commitment to the party’s future.
In a statement issued on behalf of the group, Chairman of DPG Ghana, Hayford Attah Krufi, said Dr Bawumia’s re-election reflects the strong confidence the party has reposed in his leadership and reinforces the NPP’s collective hope of recapturing power in the 2028 general elections.
“His vision, dedication and leadership qualities have resonated widely within the party,” the statement said, adding that his re-election as flagbearer is a testimony to the belief the NPP holds in his ability to lead the party forward.

DPG also extended best wishes to Dr Bawumia as he prepares to steer the party into the next phase, expressing confidence that he will lead with wisdom, resilience and fortitude.
The group further commended all the aspirants who participated in the NPP’s internal contest, noting that their campaigns enriched the democratic process, energised the party’s base and showcased the depth of leadership talent within the party.
DPG gave special recognition to the aspirants for their gracious acceptance of the results, describing it as a strong demonstration of their commitment to party unity and democratic values.
Appreciation was also extended to NPP delegates nationwide for their discipline, decorum and active participation throughout the campaign and voting process, which, according to DPG, further strengthened the credibility of internal party democracy in Ghana.
As the party looks ahead, the Diaspora Patriots in Ghana urged all NPP members to embrace the language of unity and adopt a positive, forward-looking posture.
“This is the moment to consciously speak the language of unity,” the statement stressed, noting that the task of rebuilding, rebranding and reclaiming power in 2028 will require collective purpose, discipline and responsible communication.
DPG therefore called on the party’s leadership, members and supporters to rally solidly behind Dr Bawumia and the party’s renewed vision, stressing that unity will be indispensable in navigating the road ahead.
The statement concluded by once again congratulating Dr Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party, wishing them a purposeful, united and successful campaign season as preparations begin toward the 2028 elections.
