One person has been confirmed dead following a violent clash between two youth factions at Sankor in Winneba, located in the Central Region, sparking fear and tension among residents.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, January 25, left several people injured, although the exact cause of the confrontation remains unclear.
Videos circulating widely on social media show members of the rival groups inflicting machete wounds during the clash, highlighting the level of brutality involved. The disturbing footage prompted swift action from the police.

Confirming the incident, the Winneba Divisional Police Commander, ACP Ibrahim Opoku, said multiple individuals sustained injuries during the violence.
“Several persons got injured in the clash,” ACP Opoku stated, adding that police immediately began investigations after the incident.
Meanwhile, Citi News has gathered that one individual, identified only as Excoba, succumbed to his injuries after sustaining multiple machete and gunshot wounds during the confrontation.
His death has heightened concerns over rising youth violence in the area.
Following a review of the viral videos, police have arrested multiple suspects believed to have participated in the clash. Authorities say more arrests are likely as investigations continue.
The police have since intensified patrols and security operations in Sankor, successfully restoring calm to the community.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to identify all those involved and prevent further violence.
