Deloitte Projects 5.7% Growth For Ghana In 2026

Ghana’s economy is projected to grow by 5.7 per cent in 2026, according to Deloitte, building on recent gains in output, easing inflation, and a strengthening cedi.

The economy posted a real GDP growth of 6.3 percent in the second quarter of 2025, largely driven by strong performance in fishing, which expanded by 16.4 percent, followed by information and communication technology (13.1 percent) and finance and insurance (9.3 percent).

According to the global auditing firm, the 2026 growth outlook will be supported by improved export performance, particularly from the expansion of the Bibiani Gold Mine in Western Ghana, alongside ongoing government initiatives such as the 24-Hour Economy Programme and the Accelerated Export Development Programme.

However, Deloitte cautions that the outlook could be undermined by fluctuations in cocoa production linked to climate events, the spread of swollen shoot disease, smuggling activities, and volatility in global commodity prices.

Ghana has returned to single-digit inflation, easing to 6.3 per cent in November 2025 and further declining to 5.4 per cent in December 2025, after nearly four years of double-digit inflation. This disinflation has been driven by a stronger cedi, declining non-food prices, and reduced supply-side pressures.

The cedi has strengthened by over 40 per cent in the first nine months of 2025, averaging around GH¢13 to the US dollar, supported by higher gold export receipts, sustained Bank of Ghana interventions, successful debt restructuring, and initiatives such as the Ghana Gold Board.

Deloitte further urges the government to sustain capital spending within its fiscal consolidation framework, emphasising the need for effective resource planning and mobilisation, as well as stronger public-private sector collaboration, to build economic resilience and sustain the recovery.
