Only Seven Ambulances Working In Savannah Region – Director

The Savannah Regional Director of the Ghana Ambulance Service, Musah Techi, has revealed that only seven of the 12 ambulances allocated to the region are currently operational.

In an exclusive interview with Citi News on Monday, January 26, Mr Techi said ambulances stationed at Daboya, Salaga, Sawla, Tuna, and Buipe have been out of service for some time due to operational challenges.

He explained that the service has been forced to rely heavily on a single Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance to provide emergency services to districts without functional vehicles, a situation he described as overstretching existing resources.

Mr Techi appealed to the government and key stakeholders to support efforts to repair the broken-down ambulances to improve emergency response and save lives in the region.

“We began the year with at least 10 ambulances out of 12, and as we know, they are old, over eight years in service. Currently, five are completely off-road. The remaining seven are operational, but some are not fully in commission.

“However, to ensure we meet our mandate and complement government efforts, we manage the cars during minor faults to respond to critical emergencies,” he said.

He added that the region, which has 11 ambulance stations, depends heavily on the single ALS ambulance to meet emergency needs.
