The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the temporary closure of all recruitment centres in Accra except the El-Wak Sports Stadium effective Monday, November 24, 2025, as part of ongoing adjustments to ensure safety and orderliness in the ongoing 2025/2026 enlistment exercise.
The directive comes in the wake of the tragic stampede at El-Wak on November 12, which claimed several lives and prompted an immediate review of the recruitment process.
In the days following the incident, GAF opened additional screening centres across the capital to ease congestion. These included:

- Two centres at Nicholson Park, Burma Camp
- One at the Air Force Base, Burma Camp
- Two at TRADOC, Teshie
- One at the Eastern Naval Command, Tema
However, in a new update posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, November 23, GAF indicated that all these centres will now be closed, leaving El-Wak Sports Stadium as the sole active screening point.
The statement read:
“GAF Recruitment Update: All recruitment centres in Accra for the 2025/2026 exercise, except El-Wak Sports Stadium, will be closed on Monday, 24 November 2025. All potential recruits yet to be screened should report to El-Wak Sports Stadium for the continuation of documentation and body selection.”
The latest move is intended to streamline the remaining phases of the recruitment exercise and prevent overcrowding as GAF continues to tighten safety protocols. It also enables the military to coordinate resources and personnel more efficiently at one central location.
The Armed Forces maintain that the adjustments are part of broader reforms introduced after the stampede, including stricter daily applicant limits, phased screening procedures, and reinforced crowd-control mechanisms.
Prospective recruits who have not yet undergone documentation or body selection are advised to report directly to El-Wak Sports Stadium for further instructions.
