Government Reduces Passport Fees to GHC350 Effective November 13

Ghanaians will begin paying a new passport application fee of GHC350 starting Thursday, November 13, 2025, following a government decision to reduce the cost from the previous GHC500, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced.

The reduction, according to the minister, forms part of the government’s broader efforts to ease the financial burden on citizens and improve access to essential public services. It also delivers on a key promise to make travel documents more affordable and accessible for all Ghanaians.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, November 9, Mr Ablakwa said the move is designed not only to make passport acquisition easier but also to encourage more citizens to apply through official channels, thereby curbing the activities of middlemen and unauthorised agents who often exploit applicants.

“This reduction reflects our commitment to fairness, accessibility, and integrity in public service delivery. Every Ghanaian deserves affordable access to essential travel documents,” the minister wrote.

The new fee structure will apply across all Passport Application Centres (PACs) nationwide and covers standard passport application services.

Government sources say further reforms are underway to streamline passport processing, improve turnaround times, and digitise more aspects of the application process to enhance efficiency and transparency.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged the public to use only authorised platforms for applications and to report any individuals or entities engaging in fraudulent passport-related activities.
