The Public Relations Coordination Division (PRCD) of the Information Services Department (ISD) has embarked on a monitoring and evaluation exercise to assess the performance of the Public Relations (PR) Unit at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.
The initiative forms part of the Division’s annual programme to appraise the effectiveness, professionalism, and responsiveness of Government Public Relations Officers (PROs) across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Led by Rev. Charlotte Hanson, a team from the PRCD held interactive sessions with senior management of the Sports Ministry, including the Chief Director, the Director of Human Resources, and the Director of Finance and Administration, to evaluate the PR Unit’s communication output and operational efficiency.

During the engagement, Mrs Wilhelmina Asamoah, Chief Director of the Ministry, commended the PR officers for their professionalism and commitment to promoting the image of the Ministry.
“The PROs have demonstrated a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and dedication in protecting the image of the Ministry,” Mrs Asamoah said.

She acknowledged the significant contributions of the PR team while encouraging them to continue improving their strategic communication efforts. Mrs Asamoah also pledged management’s full support in providing the necessary resources and guidance to sustain the unit’s performance.
Rev. Hanson, on her part, expressed appreciation to the Ministry for maintaining an enabling environment that allows the PR team to operate effectively. She reaffirmed the PRCD’s commitment to supporting government communicators through training, mentorship, and performance monitoring.

The monitoring initiative, according to the PRCD, is designed to promote continuous improvement, transparency, and accountability in government communication. It also reinforces the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening its public engagement and ensuring that information dissemination is timely, accurate, and professional.
