Soldier Arrested for Assaulting Woman and Pharmacist at Burma Camp

A soldier with the Ghana Air Force, identified as Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Mensah Williams, has been arrested by military police for allegedly assaulting a female customer and a pharmacist at a pharmacy located within Burma Camp in Accra.

Sources within the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) confirmed that the incident occurred earlier this week when the soldier, reportedly attached to the Office of the Chief of Staff, physically attacked the two victims during a heated confrontation inside the pharmacy.

A widely circulated CCTV video shows the tall, dark-complexioned officer confronting the pharmacist before slapping him several times. The footage then captures him turning on a young woman, believed to be a customer, and repeatedly striking her on the head after she attempted to record the altercation on her phone.

Eyewitnesses described the attack as unprovoked and brutal, leaving the victims visibly shaken and traumatised.

Following the incident, military police intervened and swiftly arrested WO1 Williams. He has since been handed over to the Cantonments Police for further investigation and possible prosecution under civil law.

While the Ghana Armed Forces have yet to release an official statement, reliable sources say that internal disciplinary proceedings are expected to be launched in accordance with military regulations.

The assault has sparked widespread condemnation both within and outside the military community, with many Ghanaians demanding firm action to preserve the professional integrity and public trust of the Ghana Armed Forces.
