Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been remanded into police custody for two weeks by an Accra Circuit Court.
The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was first arrested on Monday, September 8, 2025, by the Ghana Police Service on allegations of “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.” He has been in custody since his arrest.
At Friday’s hearing, the court ruled that the remand would allow prosecutors more time to carry out further investigations into the case.

Although the specific details of the charges have not yet been made public, the development has sparked wide national attention, largely due to Abronye’s prominent role within the ruling party and his reputation for outspoken political commentary.
The court has scheduled his next appearance for September 26, 2025, when prosecutors are expected to update the court on the progress of their investigations.
