According to Police Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi, who presented the facts to the court presided over by Jephthah Appau, the incident occurred on August 28, 2025.
On that day, the convicts met at their usual base and plotted to attack a taxi driver using a pair of scissors. Later in the evening, Foli called Ohe to meet him at Sofoline to execute the plan.
At about 10:30 p.m., Foli hired the complainant, taxi driver Emmanuel Poku of Bokankye near Asuoyeboa, to transport him from Sofoline to Akyeremade at a fee of GH¢70.
Upon reaching Akyeremade, Foli asked the driver to stop and pick up Ohe, who was waiting by the roadside. Sensing danger, the complainant decided to continue driving toward Kwanwoma.
Before they entered Kwanwoma township, Foli suddenly pulled out a pair of scissors, stabbed the driver in the back, and ordered him to surrender his car and valuables.
The victim, injured and in pain, abandoned the car. Foli and Ohe then took away the driver’s daily sales, car tape, and Samsung A20 mobile phone. Foli drove off with the taxi but later abandoned it near Sofoline.
A report was filed at the Denchemmuoso Police Station, where the abandoned taxi was later towed.
That same night, police arrested Ohe, in whose possession a pair of scissors was found. Foli was subsequently arrested on September 1, 2025, from his hideout at Kwanwoma.
Both men confessed in their caution statements and were formally charged with conspiracy and robbery.
Delivering judgement, the court found their actions to be violent and premeditated, warranting custodial sentences to serve as a deterrent.
