National Service Authority Boss Reassigned to Finance Ministry After Seven Months in Office

The Acting Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Felix Gyamfi, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Finance with immediate effect, barely seven months after assuming office in January 2025.

The sudden move has stirred questions in public sector circles, particularly as it comes at a critical time when the Authority is preparing for the next round of national service postings across the country.

While the government has yet to release an official explanation, sources at the Jubilee House told Puretvonline that the reassignment forms part of a broader reshuffle aimed at realigning key personnel to support the government’s economic management priorities.

However, information gathered by Puretvonline suggests the decision was influenced by internal disagreements and operational challenges at the NSA. According to reports, delays in posting new National Service Personnel following an audit of the Authority’s online portal raised concerns about efficiency.

Insiders also disclosed that tensions flared between Mr Gyamfi and the supervising minister, George Opare Addo, Minister of Youth Development. The minister reportedly advocated for the creation of a completely new deployment portal to address loopholes in the system, while Mr Gyamfi argued that the existing platform only required refinement and upgrades rather than wholesale replacement.

The dispute, coupled with the delays, is believed to have played a role in the decision to move Mr Gyamfi out of the NSA.

His reassignment leaves the National Service Authority without a substantive head at a delicate time, heightening uncertainty over the deployment of thousands of graduates set to begin their mandatory national service later this year.
