NFA CEO Dismisses Piracy Claims by Nigerian Actress Bimbo Ademoye Over Lack of Evidence

Chief Executive Officer of the National Film Authority (NFA), Kafui Danku, has addressed recent allegations by Nigerian actress Bimbo Ademoye, who claimed her movie was pirated in Ghana.

Speaking on Hitz FM, Ms. Danku revealed that the actress failed to provide any substantial proof to back her claims, making it difficult for the authority to take official action.

“We were ready to resolve the matter and even reached out to her for proof so the issue could be officially addressed. However, we were met with a ridiculous response that whoever sent her the message did so in disappearing mode,” she said.

According to the NFA boss, without concrete evidence, the process had to be put on hold. She explained that tackling piracy is a collaborative effort involving the National Communications Authority (NCA) and the Ministry of Communications, which often prolongs investigations.

“Some of the TV stations engaged in these breaches can’t even be located, and most are not mainstream,” she noted.

The piracy debate was reignited after another Nigerian actor, Nosa Rex, went on a social media rant, using offensive language against Ghanaians and the local entertainment industry over similar claims of piracy.

Kafui Danku condemned the outburst, describing it as an unfortunate and unhelpful approach.

“Other filmmakers follow due process by contacting the NFA directly with evidence. Nosa choosing to insult the country instead of using the right process makes some of us not even willing to act on their behalf,” she said.

The NFA CEO stressed that while the authority remains committed to fighting piracy, accusations without evidence only stall progress. She urged patience from filmmakers and assured that the clampdown on offenders would continue.
