Police Hunt for Man Who Threatened Officers in Viral Video

The Accra Regional Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into a viral video circulating on social media showing a man obstructing police officers during official duties and issuing threats against the Ghana Police Service.

According to a statement issued by the police, the yet-to-be-identified man is also seen in a separate clip making direct threats against the service, conduct the police describe as criminal and dangerous to public order.

“These actions not only constitute offences under Ghanaian law but also undermine the authority of the police and pose a threat to public order,” the statement read.

The police have strongly condemned the incident, warning that such behaviour has no place in a law-abiding society and would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

“Obstructing a police officer in the performance of lawful duties is a criminal offence, as is issuing threats against public officers or institutions,” the statement added.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the suspect, urging him to turn himself in immediately at the nearest police station to assist in the probe.

Meanwhile, the public has been cautioned not to interfere with the duties of law enforcement personnel. The police encouraged anyone with grievances to follow due legal processes rather than resorting to confrontational or unlawful actions.

“The Accra Regional Command remains committed to maintaining law and order and will continue to uphold the rights and safety of all citizens,” the statement emphasised.

The police are also calling on the general public to assist with the investigation by providing any relevant information.
Anyone with leads is encouraged to report to the nearest police station or contact emergency hotlines 18555 or 112.
