The town of Bole in the Savannah Region is brimming with excitement following the official commissioning of a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) regional office — a development hailed as a major step toward decentralising essential services and easing the burden on motorists.
Until now, residents had to travel long distances to Tamale or Wa to access basic DVLA services. The new office is expected to save time and money for vehicle owners while improving compliance with road safety regulations.
At the launch ceremony, Member of Parliament for Bole and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Yussif Sulemana, called for professionalism among staff and issued a strong warning against misconduct.

“Anyone who misbehaves at this office, especially the natives who’ve been given the opportunity to work here, should know that I will not hesitate to support the CEO and the institution’s rules to take action, including dismissal,” he cautioned.
He praised DVLA CEO Julius Neequaye Kotey and President John Dramani Mahama for prioritising the region’s development, noting that the office would not only improve public service delivery but also create job opportunities.
“I encourage all residents to take advantage of this office and acquire their documents here so they avoid harassment from the police for not having proper documentation,” Mr Sulemana urged.
DVLA CEO Mr Kotey, addressing the crowd, emphasised transparency and warned the public against dealing with middlemen or paying unauthorised fees.
“All charges will be publicly displayed. Do not pay anyone who cannot issue a DVLA receipt,” he said.
He also commended Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso I for releasing 60 acres of land for the DVLA to eventually build a permanent regional facility.
