Parliament Backs Mahama’s Economic Agenda, Vows Support for Job Creation and Growth – Ayariga

Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has pledged the full support of Parliament towards President John Dramani Mahama’s economic vision, emphasising a shared commitment to job creation and sustainable national development.

Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 19, Mr Ayariga addressed business leaders and stakeholders from the financial sector, outlining Parliament’s intention to work hand in hand with the executive to drive private sector-led growth.

“The private sector is an engine of growth, and the business leaders are the drivers and operators of the engine. They are the job creators, and they are the innovators that we must nurture, grow, and sustain,” he said. “This platform demonstrates Your Excellency’s commitment to this very task.”

Mr Ayariga noted that Parliament’s various committees will collaborate with sector ministers and private enterprises to identify bottlenecks, provide practical recommendations, and ensure timely solutions to business challenges.

“Our various committees will support their sector ministers and the enterprises that work with those sectors to identify their challenges and fashion out appropriate recommendations to help them solve those challenges,” he stated.

He assured that Parliament will also monitor the performance of ministers to ensure accountability in delivering on the government’s promises to the Ghanaian people.

Emphasising inclusivity, Mr Ayariga stressed that Parliament is focused on ensuring equitable job creation across the country through enterprise development and targeted interventions.

“Your Parliament—the Parliament of Ghana, the people’s Parliament—stands ready to do whatever it takes to support your agenda, to ensure growth, and to create jobs that are equitable,” he said.

In closing, Mr Ayariga highlighted Parliament’s oversight responsibility in ensuring the effective implementation of government-led initiatives to incubate and grow businesses nationwide.

“Parliament will also monitor and ensure the implementation of the promises to incubate and develop enterprises across the country,” he added.

The remarks reaffirm Parliament’s alignment with the Mahama administration’s broader strategy to build a resilient, inclusive economy with strong private sector involvement.
