The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has dismissed all regional and zonal coordinators of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) with immediate effect.
In a statement dated March 4, 2025, Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey announced the mass termination, instructing the affected officials to report to the GSFP Secretariat for their official termination letters and handover procedures.
“Please be informed that the contracts of all regional and zonal coordinators of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) are hereby terminated with immediate effect,” the statement read.

The ministry did not provide an official reason for the sweeping dismissals, leaving many stakeholders questioning whether the move is part of a broader restructuring plan or a response to ongoing challenges within the program.
The GSFP, a flagship social intervention designed to improve school enrolment and child nutrition through free meals, has faced multiple challenges, including allegations of corruption, unpaid caterers, and funding bottlenecks.
With all coordinators removed, it remains unclear how the program will be managed in the interim. The government has yet to outline its next steps or announce replacements for the dismissed officials.
The sudden shake-up has sparked concerns among stakeholders, especially caterers and school authorities, who worry about possible disruptions to the feeding program.
While the government insists it remains committed to the GSFP’s objectives, the unexpected move raises fresh questions about the long-term sustainability and governance of the initiative.
