The Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill has once again been tabled before Parliament for consideration, according to the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour.
The bill, which aims to criminalise LGBT activities and their promotion, advocacy, and funding, was previously passed by the 8th Parliament but did not receive presidential assent under the administration of President Akufo-Addo.
Speaking to Citi News on Thursday, February 27, Ntim Fordjour emphasised the commitment of lawmakers to push the bill through the legislative process once more.

“Myself, Sam George, Hon. Bedzrah, Hon. Alhassan Tampuli, Hon. Abdul Kabiru, and Hon. Ekow Vincent—we have reintroduced it to Parliament. It has been received and admitted, and the necessary processes are being set in motion.
“Since it remains the same bill, we do not anticipate any significant delays. The chiefs, imams, clergymen, and the coalition that supported us initially continue to stand firmly behind us.
“With the Speaker’s backing, we expect a swift passage,” he stated.
The bill’s reintroduction has sparked renewed discussions among the public, with supporters urging President John Dramani Mahama to assent to it once it is passed by the current Parliament.
