No Single Kilometre of Road Was Tarred in Bodi Under NPP—Samson Ahi Refutes Claims

Deputy Minister-designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Samson Ahi, has dismissed claims that roads in the Bodi District of the Western North Region were tarred under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

During his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, February 24, Mr. Ahi, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bodi, insisted that no significant road development had taken place in the district over the past eight years.

His comments came in response to a question from Okaikwei Central MP, Patrick Boamah, who enquired whether the NPP government had tarred town roads in Bodi.

“A big false,” Mr. Ahi retorted, stressing that not even “one inch” of road had been tarred in Bodi since the NPP assumed office.

Mr. Boamah, however, challenged the assertion, cautioning that Mr. Ahi could be summoned before the Government Assurance Committee to substantiate his claims.

“Eight years, and not one kilometre of road was added in Bodi,” Mr. Boamah reiterated.

Standing by his position, Mr. Ahi responded, “Mr. Chairman, if the Honourable Member can show me where the tarred roads are, I’d be happy to retract my statement.”

The exchange highlighted the ongoing debate over infrastructural development in the Western North Region, with concerns about the state of roads continuing to be a major issue for residents.
