Deputy Trade Minister-Designate Pledges Cocoa Processing Factory for Western North

Deputy Minister-Designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Sampson Ahi, has pledged to facilitate the establishment of a cocoa processing company in Ghana’s Western North region before the end of his tenure.

Speaking during his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Ahi stressed the significance of industrialisation in boosting economic growth and job creation, particularly in agricultural regions.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the government’s agenda to enhance local production, add value to raw materials, and expand employment opportunities.

“As captured in the NDC manifesto, we will embark on industrialisation. I will be happy to see that by the end of my tenure, we will have a cocoa processing company so that we will have cocoa beans processed,” he stated.

Ahi further indicated that beyond cocoa, efforts would be made to establish factories that process other farm produce based on regional competitive advantages.
