Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, former Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority Board, has been released from detention by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
His release follows an investigation into financial matters related to his tenure as Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF).
The development was confirmed by his legal counsel, Ken Kuranchie, who recounted the sequence of events leading to his detention.

According to Kuranchie, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was at his residence on Sunday morning when a group of men in three pickup vehicles arrived, informing him that he was needed at the NIB.
He voluntarily complied and was taken first to the NIB head office before being transferred to their facility in Kawukudi, Accra.
Kuranchie reiterated that the investigation centres on financial approvals made during Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s time as board chairman at GIIF.
However, specific details surrounding the case remain undisclosed.
The situation has attracted public interest, with many calling for transparency in the investigation. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.
Further updates will be provided as new information emerges.
