The Ghana Police Service has arrested Kelvin Aboagye, the general manager of Elmina Sharks, in connection with an attack on a referee during a Division One League match between Elmina Sharks and Swedru All Blacks.
The incident occurred on February 16, 2025, at the Nduom Sports Stadium in Elmina, Central Region, shortly after the final whistle.
According to police reports, Kelvin Aboagye, along with other individuals, physically assaulted the referee and some supporters, leading to chaos at the stadium.

The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, while authorities continue efforts to identify and arrest the remaining culprits involved in the attack.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and law enforcement agencies have strongly condemned the incident, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring discipline and security in Ghanaian football.
