Over the years, he has also held advisory roles, serving as Technical Advisor for Ghana in the Maritime Boundary Case, which Ghana won in 2017.
His contributions have helped attract billions of dollars in investment, strengthen Ghana’s energy infrastructure, and enhance the country’s global standing in the oil industry.
Mr. Amoah was instrumental in securing US$7 billion in investment for the Sankofa Oil and Gas Development Project, one of Ghana’s most significant energy projects. His efforts also led to the World Bank approving a US$700 million partial risk guarantee, ensuring the project’s success.
Additionally, he has been involved in key international energy negotiations and has served on several boards and committees dedicated to advancing Ghana’s oil and gas industry.
Mr. Amoah holds an MBA from IMD, Switzerland, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and statistics from the University of Ghana. He has also undertaken specialised training in petroleum management and executive leadership programs.
In announcing his appointment, GNPC expressed full confidence in Mr. Amoah’s ability to lead the corporation toward further growth and success.
“We believe Mr. Amoah’s leadership will help strengthen GNPC’s position in the industry, drive strategic investments, and enhance Ghana’s energy sector for sustainable development,” the corporation stated.
As he takes on this new role, Mr. Amoah is expected to lead GNPC’s efforts in ensuring energy security, expanding petroleum exploration, and driving economic growth in Ghana.
