32-year-old businessman wins Western Regional Council of State election

Tarkwa-based businessman Maxwell Boakye has secured a decisive victory in the Western Regional Council of State election, winning 17 out of 28 votes in the first round.

At just 32 years old, Boakye, a gold trader from Asankragua, outperformed eight other candidates to claim the position. His closest competitor, Akwasi Nsiah-Awuah, garnered 10 votes, while Adjei Clement secured a single vote.

The remaining six candidates received no votes.

Following his victory, Boakye expressed gratitude to the delegates for their confidence in him. He underscored the crucial role of youth in governance and policymaking and pledged to advocate for the interests of the Western Region at both the regional and national levels.

“This is a victory for the youth, and I am committed to ensuring that our voices are heard in governance,” he stated.

Boakye’s election signals a new era of youthful representation on the Council of State, bringing fresh energy and perspectives to regional and national decision-making.
