Old Mutual Ghana is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Roy Punungwe as the new Group Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2025.
He succeeds Mr. Tavona Biza, who has led the company with distinction for nearly six years.
Mr. Punungwe brings a wealth of experience in financial services, leadership development, and business growth. Since joining Old Mutual Limited in 2015, he has held several senior positions across South Africa, Botswana, and Malawi. His previous roles include Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Old Mutual Botswana, as well as Managing Director of the Life Assurance business in Malawi. His deep expertise in stakeholder value creation and operational efficiency positions him well to lead Old Mutual Ghana into its next phase of growth.

An actuary by profession, Mr. Punungwe holds an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University in the USA and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Waterloo in Canada. He has also completed executive leadership programs at renowned institutions such as Harvard Business School, Saïd Business School, INSEAD, and IMD. Additionally, he is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.
