President John Dramani Mahama has reassured Ghanaians that his administration remains resolute in its efforts to navigate the country’s economic challenges and restore stability.
Speaking at the Chinese Lantern Festival Gala at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday, February 9, the President acknowledged the economic difficulties facing the nation but expressed confidence in Ghana’s ability to overcome them through strategic interventions and global partnerships.
President Mahama underscored the critical role of international cooperation in fostering economic resilience, specifically highlighting Ghana’s strong partnership with China.

He acknowledged China’s continued support in Ghana’s developmental initiatives and emphasized the mutual benefits of sustained collaboration.
“As we celebrate tonight, let us reflect on the deeper message of this festival. The world today faces many challenges: economic uncertainty, global conflicts, climate change, and emerging health concerns. Yet, the light of this festival reminds us that even in times of darkness, hope must never be lost,” he stated.
The president assured citizens that his administration is working diligently to address the economic downturn and create opportunities for growth.
He called for national unity and perseverance in overcoming hardships and emphasised that Ghana’s partnerships with nations like China would play a pivotal role in driving economic progress.
“Ghana, like many other countries, is working hard to address economic challenges, and we are grateful for our friends and partners, including China. As we move forward, we must continue to embrace cooperation and mutual respect, ensuring that the benefits of our partnerships are shared by all our people,” he said.
The event, which celebrates Chinese culture and strengthens Ghana-China diplomatic ties, provided an opportunity for reaffirming commitments to international collaboration. President Mahama’s speech resonated with the audience, reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to economic recovery and sustainable development.
