A renewed attack on students of Salaga Senior High School (SHS) in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region has resulted in one student being hospitalised after losing consciousness, while several others have fled in fear.
According to community sources, the unrest escalated on Thursday, February 6, when students from Salaga, currently on campus, stormed the headmaster’s office.
They demanded the release of three of their peers who had been arrested following an earlier altercation between rival student groups.

Claiming that the arrests were biased, the protesting students insisted that members of the opposing faction involved in the February 1 clash should also be detained to ensure fairness.
However, the headmaster refused to meet their demands, prompting them to throw stones in protest.
The situation quickly spiralled out of control when youth from Kpembe, a suburb of Salaga, entered the school premises and attacked the students, leaving one unconscious.
Despite the violent incident, police have yet to make any arrests. However, officers have been deployed to the school to restore order and ensure the safety of students and staff.
The latest attack follows the arrest of twenty students on Tuesday, February 4, in connection with the violent clash that erupted on February 1 during an entertainment event. Seventeen of those detained have since been granted bail and are required to report periodically to the police, while the remaining three are set to be processed for court.
Authorities also recovered a locally manufactured gun during the arrests.
A seven-member committee has been established to investigate the events leading to the disturbances, with findings expected to uncover the root causes of the violence and recommend measures to prevent future incidents.
