In a significant diplomatic engagement, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has reaffirmed his country’s dedication to strengthening economic and trade relations with Ghana.
This follows a phone call with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, during which both leaders underscored their commitment to deepening bilateral ties.
A statement from the Presidency of the Arab Republic of Egypt, released on February 3, 2025, conveyed President El-Sisi’s warm congratulations to President Mahama on his re-election.

The Egyptian leader also expressed his administration’s keen interest in expanding cooperation between the two nations, highlighting the long-standing historical and political bonds that unite Egypt and Ghana.
“Egypt is committed to cultivating closer bilateral relations and promoting them toward broader horizons during President Mahama’s tenure, in alignment with the distinguished relations between the two countries and their brotherly peoples, as well as Ghana’s esteemed position among the Egyptian people,” the statement read, as conveyed by presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy.
The discussion between the two heads of state placed a strong emphasis on economic collaboration, with both leaders recognising the need to elevate trade partnerships to match the enduring political and diplomatic rapport between their nations.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s enthusiasm for investing in Ghana, particularly in strategic sectors where mutual benefits could be harnessed. He cited the successful contributions of Egyptian companies in Ghana as an example of how stronger economic cooperation could further drive Ghana’s development agenda.
President Mahama, in turn, expressed heartfelt appreciation for President El-Sisi’s congratulatory message and lauded Egypt’s continuous support in Ghana’s developmental journey.
He acknowledged the significant role Egypt has played in capacity-building initiatives for Ghanaian professionals across various fields, solidifying a bond that extends beyond mere diplomacy.
