Linda Ocloo Sets Record for Quickest Vetting Among Minister-Designates

The Greater Accra Regional Minister-designate, Linda Akweley Ocloo, has made history by becoming the fastest nominee to undergo the Parliamentary Appointments Committee’s vetting process.

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Linda Ocloo breezed through her vetting in a record time, spending less than 10 minutes before the committee. Unlike other nominees, she was not asked a single question by committee members.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin briefly addressed the nominee, stating that the delegation accompanying her demonstrated her competence and qualification to manage the Greater Accra Region.

He also expressed confidence in her ability to fulfil the duties of the ministry. After his remarks, Chairman Bernard Ahiafor acknowledged the presence of Ocloo’s guests and immediately discharged her.

Linda Ocloo, who represents the Shai Osudoku constituency, is expected to focus on various critical areas, including urban development, youth empowerment, and strengthening public services across the region, if confirmed. Her swift vetting contrasts with that of the Defence Minister-designate, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, who was subjected to about five hours of intense questioning from the committee.

The relatively smooth and quick approval of Linda Ocloo highlights her well-regarded credentials and preparation for the role she is set to take on.
