The newly established lab is designed to provide students and teachers with hands-on learning experiences in various STEM disciplines, including robotics, programming, electronics, and more. It aims to inspire and develop the next generation of innovators by offering them practical, real-world applications of STEM concepts.

The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and learning tools, all of which are aimed at making STEM education more interactive, engaging, and accessible. Some of the key features include:

  • Lego Education Kits: These kits, designed for preschool, primary, and secondary school students, offer an interactive way for learners to explore STEM concepts. The kits feature SPIKE Essential, a platform that allows students to engage in hands-on investigation of STEM topics using everyday themes.
  • REV Robots: This advanced robotics kit contains over 1400 parts, providing the most design flexibility of any kit on the market. The kit offers a strong foundation for teams to build and experiment with robotics, offering real-world experience in designing and programming robots.
  • Drone Technology: Students will also have access to drone technology, allowing them to learn about the principles of flight, remote control operations, and aerial photography, further enhancing their STEM skillset.
  • Virtual Reality (VR) Sets: These VR sets will immerse students in digital learning environments, enabling them to visualise complex STEM concepts and gain a better understanding of subjects such as engineering, architecture, and geography.
  • Programming Courses: Students will have the opportunity to learn coding languages such as Scratch, Java, and Python, opening up new opportunities in computer science and software development.
  • Science Research Tools: In addition to practical applications, the lab will provide resources for scientific research, promoting inquiry-based learning and fostering a passion for scientific exploration among students.

Speaking at the official handover ceremony, Robert Kuzoe, the Senior Manager of the MTN Ghana Foundation, reiterated the Foundation’s belief in digital inclusion and education.

He emphasised that the facility represents more than just a physical building—it’s a symbol of hope and a gateway to new opportunities for the youth of Wiamoase and the surrounding areas.

He stated, “This integrated STEM lab is more than just a building; it is a gateway to opportunities. It symbolises hope, progress, and a brighter future for the children and youth of Wiamoase and beyond.”

Kuzoe also highlighted that the MTN Ghana Foundation’s efforts are aligned with its mission to bridge the digital divide in underserved and unserved communities, ensuring that young people across the country have access to the benefits of a modern, connected life.

Nana Boakye Yiadom, the Chief of Wiamoase, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the MTN Ghana Foundation for the initiative.

He urged students to take full advantage of the new STEM lab and embrace digital literacy as a way to unlock their potential. “I encourage all students in the region to make good use of this facility and learn digital skills that will prepare them for the future,” he said.
