President Mahama Appoints Adam Mutawakilu as Acting CEO of Ghana Water Company Limited

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Adam Mutawakilu as the acting chief executive officer (CEO) of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).

The announcement was made in a letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, and takes immediate effect.

The appointment is in line with Article 195(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, which grants the President the authority to appoint CEOs of state-owned enterprises.

The letter clarified that the appointment remains subject to advice from the governing board of the Ghana Water Company Limited, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

President Mahama, in the correspondence, congratulated Mr. Mutawakilu on his new role and emphasised the importance of his leadership in ensuring efficient water delivery across the country. He further requested a formal acceptance of the position within 14 days of the letter’s receipt.

Mr. Mutawakilu brings a wealth of experience to the role, and his appointment is expected to enhance the operations of the GWCL during this transitional period.
