U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has played a pivotal role in TikTok’s efforts to restore its services in the United States.
The platform, which recently faced a temporary shutdown due to legal uncertainties, credited Trump’s clarity and assurances for ensuring its service providers would not face penalties for supporting its operations.
TikTok, with over 170 million U.S. users, highlighted the critical importance of these developments for small businesses.
The platform noted that more than seven million small enterprises depend on TikTok to reach their customers and grow their operations.
In a public statement, TikTok called this resolution “a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship.” The company emphasised its commitment to working with Trump on a sustainable, long-term solution that guarantees its continued presence in the U.S.
This development comes after TikTok briefly went offline in the United States. Hours before a new law banning the app was set to take effect, U.S. users saw a message stating, “You can’t use TikTok for now.” The temporary outage underscored the precarious situation facing the platform.
With Trump’s assurances and the ongoing collaboration with service providers, TikTok’s path to stability appears clearer. The platform remains dedicated to supporting its users and small businesses, ensuring its availability as a vital tool for connection and commerce.
