George Opare Addo, the Minister-Designate for Youth Development and Empowerment, has expressed his profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for entrusting him with the critical responsibility of shaping the future of Ghana’s youth.
His nomination, announced on Thursday, January 16, has been met with a resounding commitment to lead with humility and an unyielding vision for progress.
In his statement of appreciation, Mr. Opare Addo described his appointment as more than a personal achievement but rather a shared opportunity to redefine the future for the nation’s youth.

“This is not just a personal milestone but a collective opportunity to rewrite the story of our nation’s youth,” he remarked. “This story belongs to you, the young people of our nation, and we will write it together. Today is Day 1, and we don’t have the luxury of time.”
Mr. Opare Addo pledged to champion an ambitious and transformative policy framework designed to uplift Ghanaian youth.
He outlined a future where decent jobs, empowerment, and poverty eradication form the core of his agenda.
“My vision is clear: to deploy and implement the most aggressive and transformative policy framework for youth development in the history of our beloved country,” he stated. “Together, we will create decent jobs, empower millions, and lift young people out of poverty. No matter your political persuasion, creed, or background, my doors are open. No time for long bureaucracy.”
His commitment to inclusivity and swift action was underscored with a rallying call to Ghana’s youth: “My Mind Dey for You! Let’s start that business, that initiative, that dream—and make it a Ghanaian success story. That is what the Mahama Administration stands for: inclusive progress, bold action, and unparalleled ambition.”
Reassuring all stakeholders, Mr. Opare Addo emphasised his willingness to collaborate with individuals and organisations across the political spectrum. He views youth development as a national agenda requiring unity and collective effort.
