Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola is reportedly leaving his £8.5 million mansion in Barcelona following his surprising separation from wife Cristina Serra.
The couple, who had been together for 30 years and share three children, recently decided to part ways, according to reports from Spain.
Guardiola, 52, has consistently stayed at their family home—an £8.4 million mansion in Barcelona—whenever he visited the Catalan capital from Manchester.
However, his wife Cristina is expected to remain in the property, which was previously owned by Guardiola’s former teammate, Mexican centre-back Rafa Marquez.
Guardiola purchased the property, located in an exclusive area of Barcelona, for €10 million (£8.4 million) from a Russian businessman in February 2021.
Cristina Serra moved into the mansion two years later after returning to her home city, leaving Manchester behind.
Described by Spanish news outlet El Confidencial as “the perfect place for a separation without anyone discovering when you leave or enter,” the mansion became a symbol of the couple’s physical distancing.
Despite their split, the family spent Christmas together in the home with their three children: Maria, 24; Marius, 22; and Valentina, 17.
Spanish journalist Lorena Vazquez, part of the well-known reporting duo “The Mamarazzis,” revealed that the separation was a mutual and carefully considered decision made over several months.
She emphasised that the split was not due to any third party and that Guardiola and Serra continue to maintain a cordial and affectionate relationship.
“We are going to carry on seeing them together,” Vazquez said, adding that the couple had hoped to keep their private lives out of the public eye.
She further confirmed that only a select few individuals were aware of their separation before the news broke.
While Guardiola’s family home remains in Barcelona, his current residence when in Manchester is an apartment in the Deansgate CitySuites in the heart of the city. This central location allows him to focus on his career while maintaining privacy.
The news of the split has surprised many, given the couple’s long-standing relationship and family unity. Despite the separation, both Guardiola and Serra appear committed to preserving a positive dynamic for the sake of their children and shared history.
