Highest Ethical and Professional Standards Will Be Enforced—Mahama Warns Appointees

President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to potential appointees in his administration, stating that they will be held to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.

Speaking at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), on Sunday, January 12, 2025, President Mahama made it clear that public office is not a platform for complacency or self-interest.

“Any persons who find themselves appointed to public office have to be made aware that they will be held to the highest ethical and professional standards,” he cautioned.

“So all those of you who are plying me with your CVs know that it is not going to be an easy job, and it is not going to be business as usual.”

The president stressed the importance of governing with integrity and accountability, urging appointees to view their roles as a solemn responsibility to serve the nation.

“We will govern with the understanding that we are stewards of the resources and trust that has been bestowed upon us by the sovereign people of Ghana,” he affirmed.

Mahama’s remarks underscore his administration’s focus on transparency, good governance, and a commitment to prioritising the welfare of Ghanaians above all else.

This bold declaration comes as his government begins the vetting process for ministerial nominees, a key step in assembling a team that aligns with his vision of integrity-driven leadership.
