NDC Supporters Storm Bui Power Authority, Demand Staff Exit

A group of individuals claiming allegiance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) staged a dramatic protest at the premises of the Bui Power Authority (BPA) on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

The group, whose actions were captured in a viral video, demanded the immediate dismissal of all BPA employees, asserting that with the NDC now in power, it was time for a complete overhaul of the Authority’s workforce.

The group’s spokesperson declared that their grievances stemmed from perceived stagnation in the country’s progress over the past eight years, attributing this to poor leadership and mismanagement.

“We are here to tell anybody that has been employed, from management to security, that now our government is in power,” the spokesperson stated emphatically.

The protesters expressed their dissatisfaction with the performance of the BPA under the previous administration and called for new leadership to align with their party’s vision for the nation’s development.

The spokesperson emphasised that their demands for change were non-negotiable, saying, “All those people must pack their baggage and leave because, for the past eight years, we’ve seen nothing. If anything, we should have seen our country growing and getting better. We are fed up.”

He added, “Not even John Mahama will stop us because the country belongs to all of us.”

The incident has raised concerns about political partisanship and its potential impact on the operations of state institutions. Critics have called for calm and adherence to proper protocols, emphasising that changes in governance should not lead to disruptions in public service delivery.

Meanwhile, authorities are yet to comment on the incident, and it remains unclear what immediate actions, if any, will be taken in response to the group’s demands.
