President John Dramani Mahama has issued a directive suspending all activities related to the sale, lease, or processing of transactions involving state and public lands.
The directive, conveyed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, in a statement dated January 10, 2025, seeks to safeguard public lands for the collective benefit of citizens and future generations.
“All ongoing and pending transactions involving state and public lands are to be suspended with immediate effect,” the statement said.
This measure is aimed at facilitating a comprehensive review of the policies and framework governing the management of public lands.
As part of the directive, the executive secretary of the Lands Commission has been tasked with submitting a detailed report to the Office of the President.
The report, which must be submitted within 14 days, will provide an account of all recent and ongoing transactions related to state and public lands.
