“Dr. Ayine Is the Lawyer’s Lawyer” – Andy Appiah-Kubi Praises New Attorney General Appointment
Former Asante Akyim North MP Andy Appiah-Kubi has strongly endorsed the appointment of Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister for Justice, describing him as “the lawyer’s lawyer” who exemplifies integrity, patriotism, and professionalism.
Speaking on Joy News’ Upfront on January 9, Appiah-Kubi expressed unwavering confidence in Dr. Ayine’s ability to lead the Ministry of Justice effectively, prioritising Ghana’s legal and national interests over partisan considerations.
“Even where one expects him to be political, he will be the lawyer that he is. He is the lawyer’s lawyer. He will not be motivated by political or partisan considerations, and we have known him for that,” Appiah-Kubi stated.
Appiah-Kubi emphasised Ayine’s reputation for adhering strictly to legal principles, even in politically charged situations. Drawing from their time working together in Parliament, Appiah-Kubi recounted Ayine’s leadership as chairman of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee, describing him as “a man of quality.”
“Anytime matters came before Parliament, he was always bigger and on point. He ensures that he is not swayed by political considerations,” he said.
Appiah-Kubi believes Ayine’s approach will benefit Ghana’s legal and justice systems, particularly in safeguarding national resources and scrutinising contracts.
“I expect him, and I know he will, to interrogate most of the contracts that we have gotten ourselves into as a country. He will perform to the best of his ability, which will excite Ghanaians. His high level of integrity will guide him in office,” he added.
Appiah-Kubi also highlighted Ayine’s potential to protect state resources, calling him “the best choice for Ghana at this time.”
“He is the best choice for Ghana at this time, particularly when the focus of the state is on protecting the state purse and state property. I am sure he is the angel that has come at the appropriate time,” Appiah-Kubi remarked.
On a personal note, Appiah-Kubi shared his admiration and pride in Ayine’s achievements.
“I’m very happy for him. He’s my professor, so I’m very proud of him. I’ll continue to pray for him. If I ever have any issue to discuss, I’ll pick it up with him because I know him,” he said.
