Police in Bole, Savannah Region, have arrested a 20-year-old man, Kipo Seidu, for allegedly robbing an iPhone to give as a New Year gift to his lover.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. near the Bole Community Centre.
The victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous, recounted that Seidu approached her, brandished a sharp knife at her neck, and demanded her phone. Fearing for her safety, she complied and handed over the iPhone but was later able to identify the suspect.
Following a report to the Bole Police, Seidu was apprehended. During questioning, he admitted to the crime and revealed that the stolen phone was given to his girlfriend as a New Year present.
However, Seidu has refused to disclose the location of his lover, hindering efforts to recover the phone.
Police say the suspect will face court proceedings as investigations continue into the case.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
