The Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu and former Deputy Energy Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, has revealed that President John Mahama has directed the Chief of Staff to convene an emergency meeting with key players in the power sector to address the nation’s impending power crisis.
“Today at 10 a.m., His Excellency the President instructed that the Chief of Staff chairs a meeting with all stakeholders,” Mr. Jinapor disclosed during an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday, January 8.
The meeting will bring together representatives from various power generation companies and other critical stakeholders to devise strategies to stabilise the country’s power supply and prevent a resurgence of the infamous “dumsor” (erratic power outages).
Mr. Jinapor attributed the urgency of the situation to what he described as the immediate past government’s failure to secure adequate fuel supplies for power generation.
“This meeting is crucial because the lack of sufficient fuel for power plants has put the nation on the brink of a power crisis,” he explained.
