Supreme Court to rule on NDC’s case against vote recollation today

The Supreme Court is set to hear a judicial review application today, Friday, December 27, filed by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NDC is challenging a December 20 High Court ruling that directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to recollate parliamentary election results in nine contested constituencies.

This directive came after New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates filed a mandamus application.

While the EC has completed recollation in seven of the constituencies, results for Dome/Kwabenya and Ablekuma North remain pending.

The NDC has criticised the ruling and recollation process as unlawful, accusing the High Court of overstepping its jurisdiction and compromising electoral integrity.

The Supreme Court’s decision is expected to have a lasting impact on how electoral disputes are managed in Ghana.
