In his Christmas message on December 24, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo congratulated the President-elect and Members of Parliament-elect for their victory in the 2024 general elections, offering prayers for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as they prepare to lead the country.
“Fellow Ghanaians, we have achieved a monumental milestone with the peaceful, free, and fair election of our new president and parliamentarians,” Akufo-Addo stated.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the president-elect and MPs-elect, and I pray that God grants them wisdom, strength, and divine blessings as they embark on their leadership journey.”
While celebrating the success of the election, the President also condemned the acts of post-election violence, calling them “unnecessary and wholly unacceptable.”
He expressed his disappointment at the violence that marred the otherwise peaceful election process, saying, “We must not allow such acts to tarnish the beauty of our democracy.”
Akufo-Addo’s message called for national unity as the country transitions to new leadership, emphasising that Ghana must continue to uphold its reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa.
