Parliament has officially launched the registration process for Members of Parliament-elect for the 9th Parliament of the 4th Republic, as part of preparations for their swearing-in.
According to a statement issued on December 24, the registration will unfold in two phases. The initial online registration phase begins on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, allowing MPs-elect to complete preliminary documentation virtually.
This will be followed by an in-person registration exercise scheduled from January 2 to January 6, 2025.
“Targeted messages inviting members will be sent to members-elect via WhatsApp or emails. Physical registration will start on Thursday, 2nd January 2025, and end on 6th January 2025,” the statement outlined.
To ensure a smooth process, Parliament has provided a hotline for clarifications or assistance. MPs-elect can contact officers managing the registration exercise at 055 022 2200 or 050 363 4466.
The registration process is a critical preparatory step for the official swearing-in of the new Parliament, signalling the transition into the next legislative session of the Republic.
