NDC administration will reverse all ‘last-minute’ gov’t employee promotions – Asiedu Nketiah
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration will nullify all “last-minute” promotions and appointments made by the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, according to Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC.
Addressing a victory rally in Sunyani on Friday, December 20, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah accused the NPP of engaging in hasty and dubious actions in the final weeks of its administration, including issuing thousands of appointment letters and promoting individuals in public institutions.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah claimed that the NPP government had issued approximately 10,000 appointment letters in the past week alone and raised concerns over the legitimacy of these actions.
“Why would an outgoing government rush to make such decisions at the eleventh hour? These actions raise questions about their motives,” he said.
He named institutions such as the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) as key areas where the NDC has identified questionable appointments and promotions.
Asiedu Nketiah accused the NPP of backdating appointment letters to conceal what he described as “illegal activities.”
He also alleged that promotions were granted to individuals aligned with the NPP, many of whom were not due for such advancements.
“Some of these individuals were planted in strategic offices to cover up the rot of the outgoing government,” he claimed.
The NDC leader vowed that any illegitimate appointments or promotions would be reversed, and those who benefitted from such decisions would face termination.
“All those who illegally gained recruitment and promotions in public institutions and agencies will be terminated or reversed,” he stated.
He further warned that government officials involved in facilitating these actions would be removed from office if they failed to justify their roles.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah emphasised the NDC’s determination to restore accountability and integrity to public institutions.
He assured the public that the new administration would prioritise fairness and legality in public service appointments and promotions.
This announcement highlights the incoming administration’s intent to undo policies and decisions perceived as politically motivated, aiming to establish a transparent governance framework as they prepare to take office.
