Tamale North Member of Parliament Alhassan Suhuyini has declared that all appointments and promotions made after the December 7 election will be subject to review and possible reversal when the new administration assumes office on January 7.
Speaking to Citi FM, Suhuyini urged the outgoing government to refrain from rushing appointments and promotions during the transition period, cautioning potential beneficiaries about the risks involved.
“I am cautioning those who are beneficiaries of their action not to allow these people who are at the helms of affairs to damage their genuine case for promotion,” he stated. “Any untoward promotion or appointment that is done, especially within this period of the transition, will have to be looked into and probably reversed.”
The MP’s comments follow the appointment of the 2024 Transitional Team in accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (ACT 845). The team held its inaugural meeting on December 11 at the Jubilee House in Accra, marking the start of the transition from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Tasked with ensuring a smooth transfer of political power, the National Transition Team will coordinate closely with representatives of the outgoing administration to facilitate an orderly handover.
Suhuyini’s remarks underscore growing scrutiny of last-minute decisions by outgoing governments during transitions, with calls for accountability and adherence to constitutional guidelines.
